What happens when you combine hottie Drake Bell on guitar, cutie Corbin Bleu’s amazing dance moves and Aly & AJ’s awesome voices? A super rockin’ summer tour that, yes, you guessed it, I had the chance to go see! Last night, I was at the Verizon Ampitheater in Orange County watching a killer performance from all these talented rockstars and all I have to say is go and get your tickets NOW. This is THE concert of the summer, so make sure you don’t miss out.
When I got to the stadium, the crowd was already rockin to Drake Bell and his super cool band. He looked so cute in his all green outfit which he said made him feel like a leprechaun—maybe it brought him luck because he did an amazing set of songs including his hit “Found A Way!”
After Drake went off stage, they started to set up for Corbin. I totally got hooked up with a VIP Backstage pass to Corbin’s “meet-and-greet.” Fans were even waiting outside the backstage area, waiting to get a glimpse of the cutie. I felt so lucky and grateful to be able to go behind the stage with other fans and get to spend a few minutes with Corbin. His dad David, mom and three sisters were all there, too! When Corbin saw me, his face lit up and gave me a HUUUUUUGE hug. He’s totally the sweetest guy ever. He seemed nervous and excited to perform, but I could tell he was really happy to be with his family, friends and fans! He signed a concert tee (watch out for a contest in BOP and Tiger Beat) and my ticket stub. Then, it was time for him to take the stage!
When I got back to my seat, I saw that they rose yellow banners on the stage and cleared off the floor to make room for Corbin’s totally hot dance moves. Before I knew it, the lights went off in the stadium and the spotlights were directed on-stage. The crowd started screaming so loud, I almost thought I needed earplugs. But, who am I kidding? I was cheering just as loud and just as much! Corbin came on stage and instantly pumped up the crowd. He was wearing a white top with a peace sign on it—so cute. You could see everyone in the stadium dancing and singing a long waving their glow sticks in the air.
OMG - Corbin even jumped off-stage and serenaded a few girls in the audience. He was so much fun and so charming—you HAVE to go see him. He performed a lot of songs from his new album and was so much fun to watch! There was one point where he and his dancers took off their shoes to put cool hi-tops on and broke out in a really awesome tap dance routine. From singing to dancing to making the girls melt, Corbin does it all—he is so talented. Just as we thought Corbin was done, he surprised the crowd, decked out in his black and yellow boxing suit that read “Isadore ‘Izzy’ Daniels” from his hit movie, Jump In! If you ask me, Corbin really ‘pushed it to the limit’ and gave a super spectacular performance.
Could this concert get any better? The answer is a definite YES. As the crowd impatiently waited for Aly & AJ to come on, a huge banner of their Insomniatic CD cover dropped from the top covering the entire stage. Suddenly, the banner fell to the ground and Aly walked on from the left. She was wearing a white button up top with a black vest and black pants—super stylish as usual. She got on the piano and started rockin’ out when AJ joined her from right in these adorable blue pants and black boots. On both of their outfits was their Aly & AJ logo which I thought was so creative!
As soon as they started singing, I could hardly believe how awesome they sounded. It was just like their CD. I always knew they had really amazing voices, but I had to see it to believe it. And believe me, you need to hear these girls rock it out live because they are so, so awesome. They switched off from the piano to their guitars, but regardless of what they were playing, they were AMAZING.
They played a ton of songs from Insomniatic, which they told the crowd meant “A state of mind which one becomes addicted to the deprivation of sleep due to an epic revelation of joy caused by someone that has turned your world upside down or an exciting moment in your life.” Aly and AJ might be addicted to being “Insomniatics,” but I’m addicted to their new sound and new songs off the CD Insomniatic! If you haven’t had the chance to hear any of their new songs, make sure you go and get the CD pronto.
Even though they sang a lot of new stuff, they totally didn’t forget our favorites “Chemicals React” and “Rush” from their first record. I was super stoked! But, what was my favorite song they played? I have to say “Potential Break-up song”—it totally got the crowd moving and singing along. It seemed like the entire stadium knew all the words too—so cool! And just as I thought the night was over, Aly and AJ came back for an encore performance singing, “Do You Believe in Magic?”, a perfect way to end this unforgettable evening.
All in all, I have to say that this was one of the best, if not the best concerts I’ve been to all summer! I had such a great time watching Drake, Corbin and Aly & AJ. Let me know if you guys get a chance to check them out, too!
Here’s a video I took of Corbin backstage at his concert. Check out the facial hair he’s sporting while on tour. How cute!
