Madison Davenport plays Ruthie, Abigail Breslin’s best friend, in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, which is in theaters this Wednesday (July 2). Madison stopped by the Blog Girl headquarters to say hi. Check out our chat:
Us: So tell me about Ruthie.
Madison: I’m Kit’s best friend! My character is the banker’s daughter and in the 1930s (when the movie takes place) there was the Depression and people were losing their homes because of the banks so when Kit loses her home she kind of blames it a little bit on Ruthie. The whole movie is about learning how to get through hard times and still be friends. Oh yeah, and there’s a mystery too!
Us: Since the movie takes place in the 1930s, did you have to do a lot of research for your role?
Madison: I love history so when I found out about this movie I thought it sounded really cool. Some of the costumes were actually vintage and it was so different wearing them — you had to be proper and ladylike.
Us: Do you and Abigail still keep in touch?
Madison: Oh yeah, we text and call each other. She’s in New York so she’s three hours ahead and we had to figure the time change out! She’s really great. Not only is she a great actress, but she’s also really down to earth.
Us: Any embarrassing moments on set?
Madison: Abigail and I were goofing around and talking in baby voices and all of a sudden they were like, ‘Cut!’ and we were like, ‘Oh no, were you filming that?’ They were playing a prank on us!

OMG!!! i saw this movie yesterday!! it was pretty good..not my fave but good! Madison Davenport is Soooooo Pretty in this movie!!! i was almost screaming in the Mystery part!!! watch it to see the Mystery!

omj!! i just found out yesterday that her grandmother and great grandmother live in the same town as me!!!! it’s uvalde,texas!!!! it was is the uvalde newspaper yesterday no lie!! she’s about the same age as me, so if she visits and i meet her we MIGHT become friends!!! but i haven’t seen the movie and don’t plan on it anytime soon!! §weird§!!! i don’t have nothing against the movie though!! maybe i should see it…..

oh my jonas just found out that she was born in san antonio i’ve been there ALOT of times, she speaks spanish i speak very little spanish but my family comes from mexico, are birthdays are about 2 months apart mines september 21, 1996 and hers is november 22, 1996!!! so cool!! also my brother has the same birthday as her! the only difference is my brother was born in the year 2003. and she is the same height and age as me!!! were both 11 and 4′9!!! all i have to do is find out if she likes the jonas brothers then we could be total best friends!!!!! madison juct entered “my favorite stars list”!!!! i’m so happy that there is another texas star!!!!
